Description
The ROOT!T Dry Peat Free 60 Cell Heated Propagator Kit has all the basics for propagation and will get young plants off to a flying start. An excellent injection-moulded propagator made in the UK by Garland is the perfect home for the ROOT!T Dry Peat Free 60 Cell Filled Tray. A ROOT!T Hobby 30W Heat & Insulated Mat Bundle is included, to ensure optimal temperatures year-round. The deep propagator base with its ridged bottom allows the cell tray to drain while retaining a small reservoir of nutrient solution to prevent drying out. The crystal-clear high-dome lid with rotary adjustable vents controls humidity and can accommodate taller plants. This product will last many seasons – the plugs can be readily replaced by refills or a new filled cell tray if necessary.

FAQs:
Q: Where should I place the heat mat?
A: The heat mat should be placed beneath the propagator base. First lay the insulated mat on the surface where the propagator will stand, to prevent heat loss into the surface. Put the heat mat on top, and finally position the propagator centrally on the heat mat.
Q: Should I leave the heat mat switched on constantly?
A: No, that is not ideal, it is best to keep track of the temperature within the propagator and use the heat mat only when it’s needed. Ideally, place a thermometer (or the sensor of a thermometer) inside the propagator so that you know the internal temperature. If the temperature falls below 18°C (64°F), switch on the heat mat until the temperature is within a range of 18°C - 22°C (64°F - 72°F). If the temperature reaches the top of this range, switch off the heat mat. With experience, you will know roughly when to switch on the mat, and for how long. Alternatively you could invest in a ROOT!T Heat Mat Thermostat, which will control the heat mat (or several heat mats) automatically.
Q: How should I prepare my ROOT!T Dry Peat Free Plugs for use?
A: We recommend that you first place the cell tray in the base of the propagator, and hand-water them with a solution of ROOT!T First Feed (5ml First Feed to 1 L of water) to fully hydrate. Allow the plugs to stand for a few hours (ideally overnight) in a shallow pool of the solution, so that they can draw up their full capacity.
Q: I’m growing from seed. How should I proceed?
A: First you can find some great advice here http://www.propagateplants.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/ROOTT_Successful_Propagation_Guide.pdf
Place your prepared seed into the wider, upper part of the dibble, and cover it with a small piece- torn from the outer edge of the plug to block out light. Position your propagator away from draughts, maintaining a temperature of 18°C - 22°C (64°F - 72°F) and keep the plugs moist, but do not overwater. Keep the propagator in a dark place until shoots appear, afterwards ensuring that the plants receive enough light.
Q: I’m growing from cuttings. How should I proceed?
A: First you can find some great advice here http://www.propagateplants.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/ROOTT_Successful_Propagation_Guide.pdf
Fill the dibble in the top of the plug with ROOT!T Rooting Gel. This is not hormonal, it simply seals around the cut surface of the cutting, aiding uptake of water and defending against dehydration and infection. Insert your prepared cutting into the deeper, narrower part of the dibble until the lowest node is at the top of the plug. Place your cuttings in the propagator and keep the atmosphere humid and the temperature at about 22°C (72°F). Do not over water. Allow plenty of sunlight or provide artificial lighting. Roots should appear during the second week.
